“Coaches Corner”
Being a coach can be very rewarding and at times very challenging. Here are a few reminders to help you season be as positive and fun for you and your players.
Make sure you have open communication with all your players and parents.
Be organized.
Make sure your practices are teaching the basic skills to help your players start tot builds t he foundation of skills need to excel in the game of soccer. Those building blocks are… Trapping, passing, dribbling & shooting. The time you spend on teamwork and the love of the game will stay with your players for life.
If you have a challenge with a call or any other issues during the game. Go to the referee station after the game and speak to a Field Marshall. They will be glad to hear your constructive comments. We encourage you to fill out the proper paper so we can address your concerns in a timely manor.
PLEASE make sure you are teaching the use of the “CAPTAINS” bands. The captains are the only members of the team that are allowed to talk to the referee once the game starts (except for U6). The Captains bands teach our players respect and build valuable life skills that will be cared forward.
Remember we are a “Recreation league”. Teach your players to love the game and how to be a member of the team. If we can accomplish those two goals this year, we have had a very successful year!
If you have specific issues with your practice fields, games or any other issues, please contact your area coordinator. They are there to support you.
Thank you for teaching our kids. Your time and effort is very much appreciated.
